One Year On: Our Journey with Malaysian Link 🎉

Exactly one year ago today, we officially registered Malaysian Link with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). We had big dreams, and we still do. Our vision has always been to create a platform that helps expatriates not just live in Malaysia, but truly connect with it. To break the expat bubble, to share the real Malaysia, and to make settling in feel more like arriving home.

But here’s the honest truth: we haven’t properly launched yet.Why? Because life happened. Our founding partners are now based in different corners of the world — one in Japan, one in Slovenia, and one in Malaysia — and we are all holding down full-time jobs in the meantime. It is not the easiest setup for building a business across time zones and continents.

And yet, we are still here. Still learning. Still writing. Still sharing.

We may not be open for business in the traditional sense, but we are using this time to better understand what expatriates in Malaysia truly want and need. Through our blog, we have been quietly doing the groundwork — researching, reflecting, and preparing.

So what is next?

We will keep publishing stories, observations, and guides. We will continue to welcome conversations with fellow expats and Malaysians alike. We are still building Malaysian Link, just a little more slowly and mindfully than we originally imagined.

When the time comes, we will be ready, and we hope you will be there with us.
